Avenue, and their family and friends to Join us.

In the event of bad weather, a notice will be posted on the seat and on this
website.
In the past the residents of Baird Gardens and Dulwich Wood Park used
to hold a tea party during a weekday afternoon. As the character of the road and
its resident’s changed it became apparent that the majority of people were
unable to attend an afternoon event and the Residents’ Association Committee
took the step, some nine years ago now, to change the event from a tea party to
an evening barbecue. In place of the tea and cucumber sandwiches are now piles
of food prepared by kindly residents, both food to barbeque and food for a
buffet catering for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Gone is the tea pot and
instead wine and beer is served. The somewhat louder neighbourly gathering
proved a great success and has been an annual fixture in many residents’ diaries
ever since.
Whether you are an old friend or a new face in the area, please take this
opportunity to come and meet your neighbours and spend an evening with the
people who live around you.
The barbecue is an informal event and everybody is very welcome, so whether you
are a leaseholder or freeholder or simply renting the property you would be very
welcome to attend. If you would like to bring some friends or members of your
family along with you then they would also be very welcome.
If you would like to contribute to the evening then garden furniture is often in
short supply ‘on the night’ so please bring some along if you can. All the food
is supplied by friends and neighbours so if you would like to add to our feast
then that would also be very welcome. Please do not feel that these are
conditions of attending the evening, to just bring yourselves would be quite
enough ! The barbeque begins at 6pm (ish !) and has been known to continue into
the small hours of Sunday morning (very much dependent upon the weather!)
However, many people attend for just a part of the evening, so even if you have
plans for the Saturday night, if you have time, please feel free to pop up just
to say ‘Hello’ and have perhaps, just one glass of wine ?
If you have any questions about the event or would like to be more involved
please contact a member of the committee, details below. So it’s fingers crossed
for good weather for Saturday ???? and we very much hope to see you
there.
